St Thomas, we meet again! I once had no place in my heart for this parish, but now it seems I've made room. My initial solo experience had to do with me deciding to drive to portland via St Thomas and based on how long that journey was I just had bad vibes with the parish. Petty? maybe...
ON ASSIGNMENT: MAROON TOWN, PORTLAND, JAMAICA
There's something Magical about the parish of portland. If I had to pick one other parish to travel to outside of where I live it would win from the other twelve, no contest. The assignment was visiting Moore Town, a maroon village which was once home of Nanny of the Maroons, Jamaica's only heroine.
On Assignments: Georgia, St Thomas – A Centenarian and Tall Tales of a River
It felt like a while since I was in the field doing something other than the usual Kingston and St Andrew beat so the second I saw an opportunity to take on something in deep rural St Thomas I jumped on it. A community I've never visited called Georgia, The definition of Quaint and Quiet. The journey was fairly lengthy and the roads quite terrible however on arriving on location and meeting a lively 102-year-old gentleman it was worth it.

March 10, 2020, was a very interesting day and not one I'll soon forget on my way to the office fresh off of one of the most amazing vacations I had in February, I get a phone call, "A Chinese restaurant has exploded in New Kingston do you have anyone available?" As I typically drive that direction to get to work, I take it and head in.
